Model Reviewed:
DS-560/DS-565

Summary:
Best for studio and close-up shots. Not too good for landscapes, just like most digicams with modest resolution. Was very expensive - £6395 for the E3S two years ago and £11,000/$12,000 for the DS515 forebearer! I bought mine at a whopping discount, new old stock. Overall rating takes more modern cameras into account. I love it.

Strengths:
Versatility - able to use many Nikon F lenses, both AF and manual and Accesssories too. Big advantage over most Pro digitals is the effective focal length of the lenses is unchanged. Shoots 12 uncompressed frames in 4 seconds, then carries on shooting as the fast ram becomes available while it writes to the card. Battery good for approx 1000 shots.

Weaknesses:
Heavy and big (4lbs/ 6x6x6") all without lens or flash. Modest resolution, 1280x1000, compared to current cameras. Not all Nikon lenses compatible due to reduction optics and has f4.7 max aperture. May be limited to 199 frames max and go to hexadecimal readout with large cards or IBM Microdrive (neither tried).

Similar Products Used:
None, but have Canon Pro70

Customer Service:
Fuji U.K. helpline easy to contact and helpful.
