Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $540.00 from X10.com

Summary:

I have purchased set of WideEye X2Cams. Despite wireless range specification for this product of "100'' through walls", the actual range was 4 times less. I had trouble getting these devices to work reliably even at 40''(!). X10 technical support was not helpful either, when I requested to have X10 pick up these cameras and other auxiliary devices due to their gross non compliance to their own specification, X10 customer representative (Bread) was very rude and uncooperative, his manager (Sandro Jarrell) never returned my calls. This is my first and certainly last time dealing with X10.

Strengths:

Good Idea

Weaknesses:

Very poor implementation.

Customer Service:

Horrible, plain rude.

Review 2 of 2

Summary:

x10 produces wireless cameras that broadcast within 100 feet, which sounds appealing, but is really too good to be true.

Strengths:

It was not difficult to set up so that it broadcast a picture to my computer/TV. It was also very inexpensive.

Weaknesses:

Incredibly bad picture quality. It's actually difficult to tell what I'm seeing even in bright light. No instructions on how to set up a webcam, and no customer support people who understand that area. This camera does NOT make a good webcam, since it is so difficult to use and the picture quality is so poor. It might be good for home security purposes, if you never turn off the lights.

Customer Service:

24-Hour. When calling at any hour they are always busy though. Takes at least 30 minutes on hold to get through even around 1AM, if not longer. They have no PC support people who can assist you in setting up a webcam, only camera hardware people who can tell you to switch on the ON/OFF switch, or that your software is displaying a fatal error message that there is no current patch for.
