    Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $100.00 from Circuit City

    Summary:
Was so glad to find the solution to the ERR problem. I have had this camera for over a year, and loooove having a camera inexpensive enough to hand to my kids to let them shoot whatever they want. 4 little girls (ages 3-8) are learning photography with this unit. The LCD plexi has cracked, the camera has been dropped, and all kinds of beaten up, so I didn't even feel bad when I got the ERR that wouldn't go away. Now I know how to fix it though, and I'm quite tickled. I really like this camera, hope it goes for another year or two.

    Strengths:
takes very nice pictures, lot's of modes to perform a variety of functions, simple, easy to use.

    Weaknesses:
not incredibly reliable. worked well for a while, then had a couple instances of errors, which once you know how to clear up are not a problem.

    Customer Service:
no experience. website is decidedly un-helpful.

    Review 2 of 3

    Price Paid:  $0.00

    Summary:
I have comments on the previous review. I recieved a PC-Cam 600 for a birthday present, and a month and a half later the camera all of a sudden displayed the dreaded ERR message, and would not allow itself to be turned off unless the battery compartment was opened. Here's how I solved the problem WITHOUT SENDING MY CAMERA BACK. 1. If you can't turn the camera off using the power button, open the battery compartment and close it again. (with the batteries still in it) 2. Next, hold the MODE button WHILE YOU PRESS THE POWER BUTTON ON THE CAMERA. KEEP HOLDING THE MODE BUTTON, AND PRESS AND HOLD THE BLACK BUTTON ON THE TOP OF THE CAMERA (THE SHUTTER BUTTON). YOU SHOULD NOW BE HOLDING THE MODE AND SHUTTER BUTTONS. CONTINUE HOLDING THEM until a zero is displayed on the screen. Congrats! Your camera has now bee fixed. On to the review: I love using this camera! Its sleek design attracts lots of attention, and the rapid photo feature is great for taking action shots! 1024 x 768 isn't shabby, and the built in flash with red eye reduction is a very appreciated feature. Becuase there is no picture review window on the back of the camera, the 4 AAA batteries required for portable operation last for over a MONTH of everyday use!!!!!!! The camera is an excellent introductory piece of digital photography equipment, which goes for an unbeatably reasonable price.

    Strengths:
-The Batteries last forever!! -Unintimidating interface...... -Great webcam resolution (640x480) -DIRT CHEAP!!! I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to get going in digital photography, but doesn't want to pay as much as a small car for a camera. :)

    Weaknesses:
-No flash card port.......After the camera's filled with pictures, you must erase them or download them to a computer before you can take any more.

    Customer Service:
I have had no contact with Creative's customer service department. I ALWAYS search the net for solutions before spending a small fortune waiting on hold.

    Review 3 of 3

    Price Paid:  $120.00 from www.cruxworks.com

    Summary:
Before I purchased this camera, I felt it had excellent features at a great price. Thus, great value. However, once this beast arrived at my residence, all hell broke loose. I have Windows XP and the drivers included did not make for an easy install. The standard installation did not work. However, I got it working after doing some investigation on the newsgroups. Shortly after I received the camera, it quit working. Got an error on the LCD screen titled "ERR." The camera wouldn''t take a single picture and the webcam no longer worked. So I sent it back. A few weeks later I received camera #2. It worked for a month or so. Then during my college graduation, it pooped out again. So much for graduation pictures. I want a refund but Creative won''t give me one. They only promise a return. Well I''m sick of returns. Their quality control sucks! I want my money back. I''m not looking forward to returning the 3rd camera. In fact, the 3rd camera will not be returned intact. I''m going to smash it with a sledgehammer and return it to their CEO, or VP of Quality Control... I''m warning you. If 2/2 cameras break for me, what does this say for the rest of the PC-Cam 600''s out there? Not only that, their customer service is worse than horrible. They have no toll-free customer support and I eventually hung up after waiting on hold for over 40 minutes. Yes, even their muzak is annoying! Needless to say, I''m never buying another Creative Labs product again. Caveat emptor!

    Strengths:
Good features, decent webcam, digital camera function works ok for price paid

    Weaknesses:
Build quality poor: Two returns on defective cameras

    Similar Products Used:
