Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $50.00

Summary:

Great webcam for the kids. The quality on ms messenger is good. They can take it off the base and have all kinds of fun taking stills and short movies. The install for xp went smooth and as advertised, it performed as I had expected. As with most usb devices, It was just plug and play. However I bought it for the kids and for the money spent ($50 US) it was great. The kids had no problem snapping pics all night...mind you most of them were not worth the processing...hey!! Isn't that why I bought them an inexpensive digital camera in the first place? ..If you are looking for a real high quality digital camera.... don't look here.

Strengths:

Great webcam/camera combo for the price. The flash is a bonus. The base is great and swivels for most any angle.

Weaknesses:

The camera memory is fixed at 8 mb.

Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

Let's just say that I am glad I bought this camera for a webcam more than a real camera. If you are looking for a quality, inexpensive camera, look elsewhere. Yes, this camera does provide the latter, but with the bleeding, blurriness, and weak flash, save up your money for a real digital camera. I've recently purchased an Olympus c5050 zoom, and I am kicking myself on the $80 I spent on the Clicksmart 420, when I could've saved up my money for a wide or fish-eye lens.

Strengths:

Webcam is more speedy than my former Logitech QuickCam, and gives higher quality. The base included with the camera is very useful as it swivels in any direction.

Weaknesses:

Considering its size and price, I was surprised that it took about 3-4 seconds for a picture to actually take place after I pressed the button. I often had blurred images because I didn't know when to stop moving! The music for powering off and powering on... also taking a picture... are all quite annoying. The webcamera feature was also not compatible with my Windows98 OS.

Similar Products Used:

Logitech QuickCam Olympus c5050 zoom

Customer Service:

When my Windows98 OS wasn't working with the webcam feature, there was absolutely no help with service or upgrades.

Review 3 of 3

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

This camera is pushed with 1280*960 resolution. After speakign with 2 Logitech tech support guys. I have been given two different stories as why I have been unable to get anything more than 640*480 out of it. Both stories were unacceptable as excuse and one of the guys said that the product packaging was misleading. I tested both way given to me to try and get 1280*960 out of it and neither worked. The product instructions state that the camera shoots at 640*480 only and is not adjustable. One techie said this is true but via the bundled software it can be converted to 1280*960. Most imaging software can do this and the result is always less then it would have been had the pic been actually shot at the higher res. the other said that the cam can shot at the higher res but only when attached to the computer and adjusted via the software...tested and this is not correct. End result...a 640*480 camera for a 1280*960 price. Im thinking that a packaging recall is in order.

Strengths:

easy to use

Weaknesses:

no backlight or color temp adj function

Similar Products Used:

none

Customer Service:

responsive but non cosistant with packaging and each other...oh, inacurate aswell!
