Review 1 of 39

Price Paid:  $180.00 from Sammy's

Summary:

My z3 exploded with an electrical problem after one and 1/2 roles of film...Canon insists this was a problem related to my camera only. Has any one heard of a similar problem....there was a large flash of light and the sound of broken glass .....I had tingling in my hands and feet......

Strengths:

none

Weaknesses:

electrical shock and camera shutdown after 1 1/2 rolls of film

Similar Products Used:

none

Review 2 of 39

Price Paid:  $125.00 from Costco

Summary:

What a great investment. One year of extreme conditions for such a fancy looking camera..heat, humidity, sand, salt air, dust, drizzle, snow, bellow freezing temperatures..all the while being tossed arround my nap sack or in the glove compartment of my car, being dropped on all sorts of surfaces..hardwood, marble, concrete, interlocking, ice and so on. One year of great photos and problem free operation. I've recently have had to buy a new case for it because its cheap leatherette case is ripping in so many places from keeping the camera in less than ideal stowe. I dont know what those other ELPH owners did to get the on button triggered..but that never happened to me once. I hardly think it was a design flaw if someone is mishadleling a product. It only stands to reason that ANY product would start falling appart and produce less than stellar results if you bash it about or not take the time to read the instructions. Since I first bought it I've converted 5 of my friends to convert to this and the newer cannon ELPH products such as the ELPHjr, ELPH2, Digital ELPH, ELPH Z3. After seeing all my great photos they were sold and have been quite happy with thier ELPHs

Strengths:

take anywhere size great snap-shot photo quality remote and tripod that fits in your pocket..great combo when your in a busy touristy place or on a secluded local desig..lasting cool looks durability/dependability

Weaknesses:

noisy startup and zoom slow start up and focus still waiting for the flash to break...but so far so good..if it everdoes..its just annother excuse to buy another ELPH taiwan quality still bothers me..but so far so good..other than the black plastic fading into a greeny greyish black from extended use under the sun/elements drains battery quickly..can only be expected from use of flash, motorized elements like zoom and the start up....and so on

Similar Products Used:

Canon products: REBEL, SURE SHOT CLASSIC, W-1 Size: DiMAGE

Customer Service:

other than a new case because the old one was so badly trashed from all my travels and useage(that was $10, by the way)..I havent had to spend a cent

Review 3 of 39

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

Fascinated by its size, I bought this camera to use it when my SLR was too bulky. I thought that at it''s price it would have quality optics. The only similar sized camera I had used before was a Rollei 35 which was excellent. I was very disappointed. The lens was so unsharp that even cheap 4x6" prints looked horrible. Also the build quality was very poor, especially the flash pop-up mechanism. It was sent to Canon three times because it was suspected that problems with the AF could be responsible for the blurred pictures. But other people seemed to obtain similarly blurred photographs. It seems to me many people buy this camera for it''s fancy design. I ended up swapping it for a Yashica T5 which is cheaper and has excellent optics (and uses 35mm film).

Strengths:

none except size and design

Weaknesses:

Flimsy mechanical quality, esp. flash Horrible optics Very expensive for quality offered

Similar Products Used:

Rollei 35 Yashica T5

Review 4 of 39

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

Received the camera as a Christmas gift. Thought it looked great, but it''''s the results that count and this camera realy is mediocre. Not sure if it''''s the small format or the camera, but I guess what do you expect with such a small negative? Olympus Stylus at 1/3 of the price blows it away. Replaced it with a Contax T3 - a different world altogether!

Strengths:

Looks, size.

Weaknesses:

Very poor results. Unsharp, grainy, washed-out photos.

Similar Products Used:

Olympus Stylus

Customer Service:

Not needed.

Review 5 of 39

Price Paid:  $250.00 from BJ Wholesale

Summary:

Second time in two years it needs repair. (A mysterious H appears in the view finder and the camera refuses to function). Repaired first time for about $90....was advised by pro shop not worth repairing this time. Camera was NEVER mishandled (BTW...Don Knots, go back to Mayberry you must work for Canon).

Strengths:

Looks good...thats about it!

Weaknesses:

Design of flash, Power hungry, no mid-roll change. So-so picture qaulity for a camera in this price range.

Customer Service:

What customer service??
