Review 1 of 19

Price Paid:  $170.00 from Sam's Club

Summary:

Amazing optical quality in such a small package, pretty much like an Olympus Stylus Epic. Image quality still apparent when printing panorama shots. The cobra type flash works like silk against red eye. In all, a camera that produces excellent results. Unobtrusive, intuitive and reliable. Couldn't ask for more, if it wasn't for the APS format shortcomings. I only wish it had a bulb setting or an up to 4-second automatic speed. Kodak deserves all praise for this little gem.

Strengths:

· Size & weight · Optics · Nice fixed focal length · Good lens aperture · Nice viewfinder · Quick AF · Infinity focus lock · Accurate exposure meter · Decent macro capability · No red eye pictures

Weaknesses:

· High local price (cameras usually cost twice as much in Mexico tha in the USA) · Limited speed range on the slow side · Limited APS film variety

Similar Products Used:

· Konica Revio CL · Nikon Nuvis i110 · Canon EOS IX Lite

Review 2 of 19

Price Paid:  $185.00 from SAM''S

Summary:

Do not be fooled by the camera''s small size. It is not a toy. It produces colorful, sharp, well exposed, focused images. Its quality compares to that of the Olympus Stylus Epic. The T550 also takes great flash pictures; the cobra flash produces zero red-eye. Panorama shots taken with my Canon EOS IX Lite, using the same kind of film, are not any better than those taken with this small wonder. If you are looking for a tiny APS quality camera this is it. You will be amazed. The only thing I would hope the Kodak T550 had is a wider shutter speed range; slower for better Night-view pictures and faster for using ASA 400 film outdoors.

Strengths:

- Size & weight - Lens quality (amazing sharpness) - Lens speed - No red-eye cobra flash - Focus range - Infinity focus - Self-timer

Weaknesses:

- Shutter speed range (1/4 - 1/500 sec.)

Similar Products Used:

- Konica Revio CL - Olympus i100 AF - Olympus Stylus Epic

Review 3 of 19

Price Paid:  $90.00 from Smart Club

Summary:

Pictures are acceptable to perfect. Having no zoom gives less options = faster snapshots. Also, p&s zooms are slow, both in action and in aperture, on their long side (tele) you need flash to shoot anything but the sun.... Flip-up flash great red-eye reduction. Preflashes are delaying, annoying, power-consuming and have minor-to-no effect. Looking for a small and compact high-quality camera? This is probably it. The Ixus L-1 is also great, but red-eyes is a problem.

Strengths:

Light, easy to carry along. Feels rugged with easy-to-use buttons (the less frequently used are small, however). Fine for snapshots. Long flash range (for a p&s). Reasonable price for its quality.

Weaknesses:

Not the fastest flash recycle, but OK for its battery size/power.

Similar Products Used:

Many 135 p&s and SLR from Canon, Pentax, Minolta and Olympus.

Customer Service:

Summary:

I was very happy when they called me up to win this camera. I was so excited that I'd won a nice little reliable camera. All the other camers that I'd had did not take very good pictures. I really like the panoramic, group, and classic picture choices.

Strengths:

small, lightweight, nice appearance

Weaknesses:

small viewfinder

Similar Products Used:

Review 5 of 19

Price Paid:  $40.00 from Wal-Mart

Summary:

This is a great and easy to use P&S camera. Even though I use 400 speed Kodak film 99% of the time, I've found the image quality to be spectacular, usually matching or surpassing some more traditional 35mm cameras. The photos are vivid and sharp. The flip-up flash helps reduce red eye without annoying preflashes. Graininess is usually only noticeable on some long distance/odd lighting shots and panoramic shots (using 200 speed film would likely lessen this tiny problem). If the shots are grainy, out-of-focus, off-color, or unsharp, having the lab redevelop the roll usually fixes the problems.

This camera has taken a few very impressive, and tricky, shots. A shot standing beneath two people bungee jumping with the sun just to their side came out great, without them just being silhouettes (even without using the fill flash feature). Some other shots of my marching band on the football field (taken from the sidelines by a first-time user) at a night game came out jaw-droppingly good for night shots (in my opinion).

I've found the camera to be quite durable despite its plastic construction. The camera has survived being accidentally tossed up in the air and landing on solid granite with only a small dent in the corner (although being in the soft case probably did prevent its death). It has also survived numerous water rides at an amusement park (again, it was in the case, but that didn't stop it from getting wet).

Overall, a very good beginner camera if zoom isn't needed (zooms on these lower-level P&S cameras are usually weak anyway). Easy to use, good flash features and red eye reduction, vivid and sharp photos (remember that film processors will vary though), and durable. People still comment on how small and "cute" it is and it's also small enough to take shots discretely. On top of that, it was recently rated the best P&S camera, zoom and non-zoom, by Consumer Reports--for both 35mm and APS. In the end, this camera will still be backing up the SLR I plan to get in the future. It's unfortunate that it has been discontinued...

Strengths:

Compact Size
Lightweight
Flip-up Flash
Batteryr-saving Feature
Locking Flim Door
Multiple Flash Modes
Date/Time/Title Imprinting
Comes with hand strap and soft case

Weaknesses:

No zoom
