Price Paid:  $5000.00 from Local dealer

Summary:

The greatest Sinar - tighter than my p.

Strengths:

There is no camera in the world with faster scheimpflugging. The x is better built than my rock solid p. I did not expect that, x having been built in the 21st century.

If you have ever fiddled with a field camera trying to set up to catch the light and losing it because you had to refocus so many times or compute depth, this camera will change your life. Many people say it is too heavy for field, but all of the landscape and nature artists I know using Sinar p's, over 90% of their photography is done out of their vehicle or set up and waiting for light, so the whole "weight" argument rings hollow.

Weaknesses:

It is expensive camera. Extra rails and lensboards too.

Customer Service:

Good, if you speak German or French also.

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $3700.00

Summary:

If you have money and trully want the BEST!!!you can not miss with a Sinar X

Strengths:

If physical or should I say mechanical stealth is one of your requirement's. Look no further. In the Sinar X you will find nirvana. This camera reek's of stealth. The asymmetric tilts & swings are the epitome of refinement and design the depth of field ring on the focusing knob is a very useful and accurate tool. The ruleings on the ground glass when used per Sinar's sugessted procedure. Will make the worst large format photographers work look professional. With it's beautiful self arresting movement's it's system versatility it's ease of operation it's accuracy in repeatability and of course it's stealth you could not have found a better friend in large format photography.

Weaknesses:

This camera requires a very big case. Not what you would call compact. It is very heavy. The cost of this camera makes some of the wealthiest pro's whine. Because it does not have the facility to upgrade in format e.g. 8x10 or 5x7 if you what this feature get the Sinar p2 for another $3300.
