The rangefinder's inherent advantages have never changed, and are now offered as part of an economical system. They are light, unobtrusive cameras that are ideal for handheld lowlight conditions, and they have a smaller distance between the film and the lens mount than SLRs, which makes for inherently sharper lenses. Above all else, they are small. The Voigtlander Bessa R2S is another version of the Bessa R2 rangefinder camera, but has a classical Contax Rangefinder lens mount (first introduced in 1932 on the Zeiss Contax 1). This camera will accept the Voigtlander SC lenses, or most of the classical Contax Rangefinder* lenses. This camera will also accept some Nikon rangefinder lenses, but with restrictions. Of course, all of the original Bessa R's outstanding features are retained; an exceptionally bright viewfinder, quiet shutter & simple LED metering system.
