Summary: The Viking IntelliFlash, in my opinion is by far the BEST memory reader on the market. Why? After spending hours trying to get a SanDisk USB reader to work, I went out to Amazon.com and purchased the Viking product ($69). Within three or four minutes it was up and running! The IntelliFlash is an exceptional product. One that's fast (1.5Mb/sec) and totally plug 'n play compatible with my Win 98 PC - AND my Apple iMac. I take a lot of digital photos and create panoramas using my Nikon Coolpix 990 (see my website at http://www.360art.com). I have an assortment of CompactFlash memory modules (Kodak, Canon...and now a Viking 80Mb card). The reader works with all three. No problems whatsoever. I also use the IntelliFlash reader to download MP3 files, then play them on my HP Jornada 430se. Works GREAT!!!! Unlike the SanDisk product, my IntelliFlash unit came with a PC Card slot adapter. I use it to transfer huge PowerPoint presentations and other large files from my Toshiba laptop to my PC at work. The reader is SUPER FAST! Unlike the SanDisk, it has a power LED AND system activity LED. And it includes an EJECT button (something the SanDisk doesn't have). And...the sexy looking blue color closely matches my "Grape" colored iMac!
BOTTOM LINE: This is one case where the old adage "You get what you pay for." is SO true! The Viking IntelliFlash USB product is a quality product. Strengths: SUPER FAST!!!! (1.5Mb/sec)
Quick & easy installation on my PC and iMac!
Supports both CompactFlash and SmartMedia (I only use the CompactFlash).
Includes PC Card adapter.
They sell through major online resellers that keeps 'em in stock (I bought mine at Amazon.com). Weaknesses: Absolutely no weaknesses I could see after comparing with others on the market. Similar Products Used: SanDisk ImageMate USB SDDR-31 Customer Service: When a product works out of the box without a hitch, you don't get a chance to experience their customer service. I only know that my Viking IntelliFlash reader and 80Mb Viking CompactFlash memory WORK...and work well - all the time.
