from Staples Summary: I bought this card reader because it took way to much time and hassle downloading photos/videos from camera to computer via USB. (AC adapters, cords, cables, etc.).
So far, I have been extremely pleased with this reader’s performance. Very fast downloads are now possible, and plugging in cables is no longer needed. Also, I can fill up an SD card, stick it in the reader and go shoot some more with a spare card. The camera no longer has to be tethered to a computer.
The card reader also functions like a flash drive, just buy some memory and swap it when needed. In this fashion, it can even be plugged into a digital picture frame. Strengths: ~Small & portable, great for long trips.
~Snap-top design covers the gold contacts and prevents dust from settling on them. Also, when in use, the memory card can be totally enclosed inside the reader – protecting it.
~Works perfectly well on Linux/WinXP computers.
~No “sprouting” cords to mess with.
~Green LED blinks when files are being transferred and shuts off when the device is safe to remove.
~Cap attached by string prevents possibility of loss.
~Very fast at downloading/writing.
~Quite cheap.
~Versatile.
~Came in a nice package, and gave an initial impression of quality. Weaknesses: ~Easy to lose, due to small size.
~When attaching the cap, you must pull the string out beforehand.
~Only reads SD & MMC, not the other popular types. (Guess it’s not really a weakness, since I knew). Similar Products Used: ~Transcend JF110 512MB USB Flash drive.
