Summary:

I do not own this device, HOWEVER, I do have some useful info for anyone who does! The manufacturer's website is now WWW.ZIOCORP.COM. You can get up-to-date info on their products, download drivers and get support! Hope this info helps.

Review 4 of 9

Price Paid:  $0.00 from Arrived free with ca

Summary:

A decent bit of hardware with fatal flaws. The Microtech branded 'ZiO' image reader works great, provided that you don't need to install any driver software. If your computer's built-in USB drivers can handle it, go ahead and use it. Otherwise run. Screaming. As has been documented elsewhere (http://daringfireball.net/2003/08/microtechs_crashtacular_zio_driver), the Mac OS X driver for the reader causes serious problems when waking a computer from sleep. The Windows drivers seem to cause file corruption. The http://www.microtechint.com/ website appears to be extinct, so there are no new versions of the driver available.

Strengths:

Hardware seems to work fine.

Weaknesses:

Driver software is terribly flawed.

Similar Products Used:

Sandisk, Antec

Customer Service:

No longer available from www.microtechint.com website

Review 5 of 9

Price Paid:  $50.00 from Mac Business Solutio

Summary:

What a PIECE OF POO! This thing works for a little while, then it starts corrupting your image files and making them unreadable. I have owned two and ended up spending $300 to send my camera in for service thinking that the camera was the problem. Then I bought a second card reader. It worked for a little while then crapped out like the first one. I think the problem is software related but I can't seem to download anything from Microtech's web site to fix the problem.

Strengths:

It worked fine when it was new.

Weaknesses:

Doesn't work after a while

Similar Products Used:

None yet, I'm gunshy.

Customer Service:

Couldn't find any.
