Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $470.00 from B&H

Summary:

Overall, an excellently designed portable storage device with the ability to view thumbnails of images. Support for all common RAW file formats is a plus.

Strengths:

Lightweight, stone-simple to use. Verify feature allows double-checking of copied file integrity if desired. Built-in lithium ion battery provides very good battery capacity in a sleek, self-contained package.

Weaknesses:

CF card slot is a little fiddly. It's all to easy to insert the CF card cocked or worse. The oversize nature of the card slot is probably to accommodate either type I or II CF cards, but a little tension spring in the bottom of the slot would help immensely in guiding type I cards into the slot.

Customer Service:

not used, but web site is helpful, and offers do-it-yourself firmware upgrades.

Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $526.00 from tristate.com

Summary:

I bought 20GB Nixvue Vista to take travelling to store photos and it has worked out very well. My unit appears to be very solid, light weight and easy to pack. Fellow travellers enjoyed viewing stored pictures in the display. I'd buy this model again.

Strengths:

This works well as a back up hard drive for my laptop.

Weaknesses:

I found the filing system difficult but then I'm spoiled being a Mac addict. Display could be larger and sharper.:

Review 3 of 3

Price Paid:  $470.00 from B & H

Summary:

I ordered this product in June, and B&H immediately billed by VISA for it. I didn't receive it until August. It was defective: when turned on the screen lit up, but no picture and no menu. B&H was very good about exchanging it, but I didn't get my 2nd one until August 30th. That one would download a CF card, but at a rate of about 256mb/60 minutes! The manufacturer was good about responding to e-mails the next day, and said I could update the software. That it should only take 5-6 minutes. However, this is two times I've gotten a defective product. So I returned it for my money back -- which B&H agreed to without a hassle.

Strengths:

Lots of good features -- in theory.

Weaknesses:

I also noticed the screen is of less quality than my camera and the photo is distored. No 12 volt battery adapter available.

Similar Products Used:

I've ordered an Image Bank.

Customer Service:

Both Nixvue and B&H were very good with service, and with the exchange of the first one and return of the second. Although unlike other mail-order/Internet companies, B&H has been using my money now f
