Review 1 of 5

Price Paid:  $100.00 from Best Buy

Summary:

I bought this to scan 6x7 and 4x5 chromes & it does a d*** good job for $100! For 35mm get a film scanner. Software is very usable.

Strengths:

MiraScan twain interface is very good for this price point. USB works great! Transparency lid!

Weaknesses:

600DPI rez means very small files from 35mm slides & negs.

Review 2 of 5

Price Paid:  $99.00 from MicroTech

Summary:

Purchase this scanner if you only plan on scanning photos and not slides.

Strengths:

Inexpensive, good for people who want to scan family photos.

Weaknesses:

The slide scanner is marginal at best. Transparencies are awful and really not worth scanning on this scanner.

Similar Products Used:

Many other scanners

Customer Service:

Model Reviewed:
Scanner 620T Series

Summary:

A fine scanner. Great for reflectives like prints. As far as negatives go, it works, but it's really hard to get the colors right if you're not using one of the built-in film types the software uses. ie most professional films you'll have to correct the colors yourself, a bit of a pain.

Strengths:

inexpensive, easy to install and use

Weaknesses:

color

Review 5 of 5

Model Reviewed:
Scanner 620T Series

Summary:

An Excellent scanner, both flatbed and transparency. The software included is basic (Kai"s Soap and Photo Express by Ulead) I have mine hooked in to Adobe PhotoShop. Takes up more room then a regular scanner (think of the scanners from about 5 years ago- that's the size). The included templates are great, it's almost inpossible to make things crooked. I don't like the Acer interface to do the previewing that came with the driver. Also an on/off switch which many scanners seem to be lacking.

Strengths:

*This scanner is actually a transparency scanner (up to 5x7) that has a removable cover over the trans. to make it a flatbed
*scans up to 3600 dpi
*I only paid 99 dollars
*USB
*Has templates to scan transparencies (up to 5x7), 35mm negatives, and slides

Weaknesses:

*Plastic cover is finicky about going back on
*about five inches tall, takes up space

Similar Products Used:

I looked for almost a year before buying a transparency scanner (I shoot 120 film) and I just could not rationalize spen

Customer Service:

I purchased a two year service plan from the store (best buy) that if anything does wrong with it they will replace it.
