Calling it obselete is short-sighted. I kept my Compac presario from 1998 for this reason. Yes it's old and has rubbish spec by todays standards but it cuts the mustard as far as scanning goes and i wouldn't be without it. The old lady sits next to it's brother a Fujitsu Pentium 4 with my loaded iMac 24 as my mainstay.
