Worked right out of the box, read the manual, installed the software and began scanning my slides and then began feeding color negative film for batch scanning and it worked like a charm!

None considering the price. If I got the same results with a $500 scanner then I would gripe. For the money you get a high quality scan but you do need to spend some time in Photoshop Elements which is supplied with the scanner to remove dust and scratches. Not bad considering that this is a basic no frills scanner that doesn't feature GEM or Digital Ice for automated corrections.

Fantastic scanner at a fantastic price! Everything works as advertised by Pacific Images.

My primary purpose is to convert some old slides to a digital format. Went to Comp USA, encountered a salesperson who had no clue so, being the smart consumer... I bought the most expensive slide scanner they had. The unit is a total piece of junk, I have spent 8 hours and endless crashes: scanning 6 slides and 2 negatives. I do beleve however it would make a good anchor for a canoe.

Main weakness is that the product does not function properly. Extremely unreliable - only works for 25% of attempted scans.

I really wanted to like this product because it had a lot of features at a relatively low price. And it "looks" like a real slide scanner. But having struggled with it for over four hours I have only two successful scans to show for it. I agree with the other reviewer's choice of words in describing this as a "wretched" product. The scanner locks up, the driver locks up, it crashes Adobe Photoshop Elements, etc etc etc. This product needs to go back to the drawing boards for some reworking. How this inferior quality product ever won an award is totally beyond my comprehension. They must have given the award without every trying to use the product. Save yourself a few hours of frustration and stay clear of this scanner.

Wretched feed system. A total mis-design.

The trouble with this scanner is the feed system. I sent one back to PC-Mall for replacement, but the replacement unit gave the same trouble. You push it in from the side, at the top, and it's supposed to bend around a right-angle and go down into the auto-feed mechanism. But quite often it just won't. If the film is nice and flat, it works OK. Other times - especially if the film-base is of the thicker kind, or if it is a bit bowed (i.e. curl on the short dimension), as film often is, it just gets stuck, and there's no way to help it along. I have had endless correspondence with the manufacturers, but to no avail. There seems to be only one man there, and he insists it's my fault for trimming the corners off my film strips (I have always done this in order to help them slide into the concertina envelopes I have always used.). So this scanner is a useless piece of junk, so far as I am concerned, and the customer service deserves no praise either. There are, now, other scanners out there where you put the film into a plastic holder, thus avoiding any problem with the condition of the film. Another fault is that film that does feed sometimes fails to feed properly. Instead it gets stuck halfway, and keeps re-scanning the same image over and over. Or else it goes off center, and you get a scan with half one frame and half the next. As for a whole, uncut length of freshly developed film going through in one go - HA! HA! HA! Forget about it. Turn your back on this scanner and something is certain to go wrong. So my recommendation is to avoid this device as though it were the plague. NB - the star rating below - one star - is the minimum I can award. It should really be no stars!

Not great. PC-Mall replaced one scanner, but the problem is in the design. Pacific tried to blow me off, but then tried to be helpful when I persisted, however there is no resolution possible except a refund, which PC-Mall now refuse to give me.
