from FRYS Electronics Summary: Bought it. Brought it home. I usually dont install drivers from a disk so I went to their web site for the updated ones. They do not support this scanner online. The drivers are proprietary to the CD that comes with the scanner. OK, So I installed the drivers from the disk. Got a memory error. Tried to scan anyways. ok, it worked. I'm running a new install of windows XP SP1 with Photoshop 7 on an AMD XP 2000 proc. The scanner worked great for about 15 scans using photoshop to import. After that. The scanner imported but the quality was shot and the the pictures had noise in them as well as you could see the scan lines. Reinstalled the driver. Same issue. I tried it on a mac as well. Same issue. Went back to frys and got my money back. Now I have a Canon Canoscan 4000us. Its faster, quieter and has better resolution. Strengths: 3200 dpi resolution Weaknesses: Noisey, slow.
