from Online Summary: I have used the Pro version of this software for over a year after becoming frustrated with the way that iPhoto handled files and they way that iPhoto bogged down when the library contained more than a few thousand photos.
I have not been disappointed with this application. Its support for AppleScript, in particular, allows me to do all sorts of things that would not be possible otherwise.
The flexibility in how photos display in the catalog views is valuable.
I've played around with competing applications such as Lightroom (beta) and Aperture 1.x (before 1.5) and never could get comfortable with the user interaction model with either of those apps. Strengths: Generally intuitive user interface design
Strong support for AppleScript (unless the new owner Microsoft decides to kill it.)
Handles multiple media types (including fonts !!??!?!)
Backups are easy.
Good library of built-in scripts to handle common tasks.
Plays well with helper apps such as Photoshop Weaknesses: There are few options for the catalog display that I'd like to see (e.g. wrap text for longer fields rather than truncate with ellipsis.) Similar Products Used: iPhoto (various versions)
Adobe Lightroom (beta)
Apple Aperture (pre 1.5) Customer Service: Excellent. Very responsive.
