Review 2 of 5

Summary:

This software came with the Dazzle DVC video editing kit. Photo Express is very basic but easy to use. We don't use the fancy templates very much, but they'd be fun for a family or beginner. Overall, not too bad, but we also use PhotoShop.

Strengths:

Easy to use, fun templates

Weaknesses:

Limited control overall

Similar Products Used:

PhotoShop

Review 3 of 5

Summary:

I think the title says it all. For a beginner this product is very good. It gives the beginner a myriad set of convenient tools that allow quick capture, editing, printing and saving. Some very nice easy to use features and effects.

Strengths:

Easy to use. Can select from mulitple sources (ie. camera, scanner, files, etc.). Has a nice user interface with library functions.

Weaknesses:

Some advanced editing features required. Some what limited.

Review 4 of 5

Summary:

ULead comes as a complete suite, with editing, scanning, and creating capabilities. While it wants to default to .bmp to save files, it doesn't take much to convert to .jpg or .gif.

Strengths:

Complete suite of software at a reasonable price.

Weaknesses:

Seems like the scanner must be turned on before you turn your machine on for scanning to take effect, but it could be because the scanner is on a SCSI drive.

Similar Products Used:

PhotoShop--ULead is easier to use, but not as sophisticated as PhotoShop. CorelPaint/PhotoHouse--actually comparable. This comes with the WordPerfect Suite.

Customer Service:

Haven't needed it yet.

Review 5 of 5

Summary:

Being A beginner myself. IPhotoPlus4 helped me get my feet wet in this addictive world of digital photography. And if you've read any of the other software reviews. You'll have noticed I'm trully addicted for I've reviewed close to half of the other image editors at this site. Not that I profess to be any sort of expert. I'm not even close. But if my opinion stears anyone to something that they like I'd be happy. IPhotoPlus4 was the 1st program I was exposed to just over a year ago. And thank God for that. Because if my initial exposure to image editors would've been something like PictureWindow. I would probably have gone another route & never gotten into the digital age. This software is still better then most for a quick touchup and print job for it seems to always center the pic on the paper without having to equalize the margins on the printer setup. And minor Adjustments are simple and quick before printing. Since I rarely do projects of any type the lack of templates really hasn't bothered me much. But unfotunately there are plenty of other programs available that are similar to this but a beginner can definately benefit from this as a 1st exposure to image editing. Hell I may even be reviewing a later version then IPhotoExpress.
