Strengths: Works seemlessly with Elements 8.0
Simple to use and you can see the results of noise reduction on-screen
Allows photographic details to be protected much better the using the NR in DPP or Elements
Relatively inexpensive, considering the cost of other photographic software
There are a lot of image control and adjustment options (though I haven't spent the time to really understand the full capabilities of the software)Weaknesses: Haven't found anything obvious yetBottom Line: Because of my work schedule, much of the time I have available for nature and wildlife photography is in the evening hours when daylight can be limited. Using high ISO settings allow me to capture hand-held images in the low light, but at the expense of sometimes excessive digital noise. Previously I used the noise reduction features of Canon DPP, and then Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0, but continued to be disappointed with edited images. With these tools, too much image resolution was lost when adequate noise reduction was applied in the software.
After reading one of Scott Kelby's books on using Elements 8.0, I decided to follow his recommendation and purchased Noiseware Pro 4 as a plug in for Elements. Using Noiseware Pro 4 allowed me to salvage a number of images that I had previously considered too poor to use.
Just recently I purchased Adobe Lightroom 3, and have found the NR offered by LR3 is virtually as good as the results that Noiseware Pro 4 provides.
