Review 1 of 4

Price Paid:  $50.00 from UCSC

Summary:

A great nonlinear tool for learning fundementals of basic editing.

Strengths:

Easy to follow tutorial. No extra bells and whistles that distract first time novice editors.

Weaknesses:

Sound. There is an inherant flaw in the program that creates sound pops indiscriminataley throughout the project.

Similar Products Used:

Premiere, Media 100 & Final Cuts Pro

Customer Service:

Good. Apple is great with online Q&A.

Review 2 of 4

Price Paid:  $0.00 from free with any Mac

Summary:

Great product for the amateur Video-editor. iMovie2 is a great (free) upgrade. It really took the childhood out of this software.

Strengths:

Easy 2 use Sound addition (as many sound tracks as you want) Connection towards iDVD Price/Quality so there's no need to go stealing software from buddy's...

Weaknesses:

Exporting towards digital files (QT, ...) isn't too clear, you should export towards the camera or VHS.

Similar Products Used:

None

Customer Service:

Never needed...

Review 4 of 4

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

iMovie is free software on a lot of the newer Apple computers. The learning cuver is extremely fast. You hook up your computer, the software identifies it. You hit import on the clips of the video that you''''d like and then later drag those clips into the timeline in the order you''''d like your video. Same goes for audio, capturing from a mic or cd. You really can outgrow this software quickly if you are looking to make more creative videos though because of the lack of advanced features.

Strengths:

Very easy learning curve

Weaknesses:

Lack of any advanced features

Similar Products Used:

Adobe Premiere
