Polaroid PolaPan CT

Unique product. This film is not really made for general use but special circumstances. A B&W slide film has only limited appeal surely. I found it contrasty & stark but very pleasing for the subject I was using it for( dirty back alleys & drug shoot-up sites for an indie movie ). Going back to the store to put the film on the special machine was very exciting ! I'll try to use it again for another project just for the fun of it !

Unique, fast processing, you do it yourself !

Too stark for regular subjects, you have to painstakingly cut & mount each d*** image into a slide frame.

I love this film. You do need the polaroid auto processor handy to process it, but it's EASY to process. downsides, aside from cost and availability, are the lack of control in developing, scratches at times, uneven areas of "white" which i don't think this film is best at.. but! all these can be advantageous at times.. i've used this film a lot to document urban decay, and desolate areas, which can, in my perception, benefit from this film's unique characteristics. It is a bit hard to predict results, so i always overexpose a frame too, about 1/2-1 stop.. somewhere around there.. and since all of mine goes in my film scanner, which seems to appreciate it a bit overexposed, i rate it around 80, sometimes 100, although the difference there isn't worth mentioning, except to say it's not worth mentioning.. hm yummy film

A film that I enjoy and find full of expression, with high contrasts and rough grain - that leaves good potential. It may not be for every one because of the price and a bit uncontroable prossesing.

Easy and quick processing that leaves you with a film with high (very high) contrasts. I like the fact that you can role the processed film back into the case for a perfect storage. The film has a rather rough grain, but if you are aware it goes great with high contrasts and gives a good effect.

I have experienced some undevelloped spots on the film and also scrates. This is very unfavourable but have actually given an other level to some of my photos.
It´s expencive but you don´t need to make a contact print, or pay for prossing - so maby not as expencive as at first look.

Although I really have enjoyed the results of the TMAX black and white, I have also enjoyed the wonderful things that Polopan allowed me to do. It is pretty expensive, so make sure you know what you want to photograph when you use it. It isn't something to just experiment with if you aren't ready to spend a lot of money(last time I checked, it was between $20-$25 a role...depends on how and where you purchase it). If you haven't tried it yet, then do it by all means. You will not be dissapointed. Just make sure you have means to develope it.

Has bluish and brownish tint that make a very unique contrast that will make ordinary photos look like masterpieces. It has a developing kit, so you can develop the film on your own time(fairly easy process). The unique contrast and quality created by the Polopan film is a level above what most other Black and white films will provide.

You have to purchase a special machine used to develope the film(motorized or manual optional). If you don't want to purchase your own, you can probably find a photo store that has one to do it for you. That isn't really a weakness, but an inconvenience if you don't already have the machine.
