Review 5 of 7
Summary: This film has become my default 400-speed color negative film. It's quite similar to Fuji NPH rated at 250, only it's truly a 400-speed film. I like the more-natural color pallete as well, although if you're looking for "pop," there are better choices. Strengths: Fine grain, accurate colors. I would say that the Agfa 400 blends the grain of Fuji Superia with the accurate colors of Kodak Royal Gold.
Contrast isn't as unnaturally enhanced as with other films, notably Kodak Royal Gold 400.
Excellent skin tones.
A true 400-speed film.
Can be found in a number of guises at very good prices. BEWARE! Agfa didn't pick up the Kirkland deal as of late 2000, so Kirkland film may soon be re-packaged Kodak. Weaknesses: Slightly lower contrast - this can be a good thing, thouh, but if you're shooting in overcast conditions I'd probably pick a more-enhanced film like Fuji Superia.
Don't even think of pushing it. Sometimes I underrate it by 1/3-stop (EI 320) just to err on the side of getting the exposure. Similar Products Used: Fuji, Kodak. Customer Service: Not needed.
