Strength:

-sharp -robust colors (I ask the technician to not do any color comp.) -moderate price (not at brick and mortar stores, though!)

Weakness:

-not easiest film to find -pinker than normal caucasian skin

Being mostly a nature shooting person I like the BIG colors that this film offers. It''s also as sharp as I would ever need, blowing up to 8x12 with ease (could probably go bigger if I had better glass and if I needed it) and stands next to Reala in this respect when the negs are viewed under an 8x loupe. I will say that white people can turn out pretty pink, but I have limited experience with shooting people with Optima II so I can''t say definitively. For my current purposes it happens to be in my top choices for ISO 100 print film. It just pops more than Reala, which I use when I want a little more color accuracy.

Strength:

cheaper than pro fuji in canada quality colour!! very fine grain

Weakness:

can''t print on Fuji paper

A strong colour, slightly high contrast film which is quite unique in character. The photos from this film have a optima 100 look from its colour palette. (look at the sky and leaves on the photos and you''ll notice) It provides pleasant results even when the sun hide behind the cloud for a moment. While it may give a slightly tanned look of people who are not tanned, most of the time i still like those photos. Compare to Fuji material, Agfa is apparently is warmer. My photo lab uses amateur Agfa Prestige Digital paper, the proofs are great! I once had it printed on Fuji paper via a Frontier, the results are much inferior.

Strength:

Nice tight grain

Weakness:

terrible colour reproduction

Brutal colour reproduction. Very unsatisfying. I have tried the Agfa Portait 160 and liked it alot. But this film....YUK. I shot it in my Konica Hexar indoors with a flash. Maybe it is a better outdoor film. I don''t know. But I can tell you this... I will not be shooting with it again.

Strength:

Good color saturation while maintaining true skin tones. A high quality versatile film at a great price. Quite fine grain as well.

Weakness:

Someone said it in a previous review...the film doesn't handle greens as well as possible: it is on the magenta side.

In my estimation, its the best all-purpose 100 ASA film around. Its cheap to boot.

Strength:

Clean whites, true blacks and good flesh tones. Fabulous primary colors, and the best film I've found for mixed colors (purple, chartreuse, etc.).

Weakness:

Not available in 220.

This new emulsion is fantastic. Great color rendition, and the cleanest whites/blacks I think I've ever seen. No grain to speak of, and it color matches across speeds and formats.

Customer Service

Excellent, once you get through.

Strength:

Very fine grain, excellent color saturation. Greens can be weak, but not intolerable.

Weakness:

Poor in low light situations, but since I use a tripod mostly its not a problem.

I love this film. Price is very reasonable. Results are incredible.

Strength:

very fine grain, great color saturation, not too expensive

Weakness:

poor green tone reproduction

very good film with excellent blue and red tone saturation. great for landscapes and flowers. Not expensive!!! unfortunately the greens tend to be a bit cool/undersaturated compared to reds and blues. Overall great film.

Strength:

Excellent color saturation when used with proper lighting. Very natural, but nicely colorful.

Weakness:

Need a lot of light. You must use flash, especially outdoors (when shooting people in shade or bright sun)

I liked it a lot. The prints were very colorful and fine grained. Extremely well saturated but not gaudy colors. You really have to use flash in about every situation to get the best performance from this film when shooting people pictures though, even in sunlight. I will use it again. It is a toss-up between this film and Reala in terms of quality.

Strength:

Its a nice, good, colorful and saturated film in 4x5. It also beats Kodak 160VC in the price.

Weakness:

Yes it hard to find 50 sheet boxes. Adorama gets them sometimes but not always

Optima 100 is our last resort for 4x5 color negatives...and a pretty good one too. I like it and will buy in quanity

Customer Service

At least its not Kodak's!
