Summary:

I bought 10 rolls of this horrible film after reading rave reviews in a photo magazine. It is pathetically bad. A full frame 8x10 looks like I blew up one tiny corner of a slide. Unbelieveable grain! I suppose that it could be used in applications where you want lots of grain, buy I cannot imagine anyone wanting THIS much grain. Far more than I have gotten from Kodak 800 Max. I'm throwing away my remaining 8 rolls because I cannot justify wasting the money processing them.

Strengths:

None

Weaknesses:

Grain that looks like a slide film pushed to 3200 ISO. No smooth lines possible. Photographs look like mosaics made from colored sand glued to a board.

Summary:

Put me off fast slide film for a long time, even though - no, wait a minute, precisely because it was such an improvement on previous fast slide films, yet is still very poor.
Try Provia 400F or the very wonderful MS100/1000 instead (really good at 400).

Strengths:

Until Provia 400F, the best 400 ISO slide film about...

Weaknesses:

...but still terrible!
Poor colour, poor grain (too big yet too small).

Summary:

I agree with most of the others that this film does not have the color saturation that I associate with Fuji films.

Strengths:

I liked it in low light. I was shooting birds and landscapes around dusk and the speed and color renditions were acceptable to pretty good. I liked its ability to capture the subtle colors associated with moonrise, but that alone wouldn't be enough for me to buy it again.

Weaknesses:

Very expensive

Summary:

IMO maybe one of the worst slide film existing.
You can easily see the grain even without a loupe, just watching diapos from 10 inches.
Don't buy it, shouldn't be sold!

PROVIA 400 (RHP)

Summary:

Don't waste your money. The speed of this film makes it nice for low-light situations -- that is, until you get the results back from the lab. Seeing a side-by-side comparison of Provia 400 and 100F pushed to 400 was all the convincing I needed. Very disappointing.

Strengths:

Fast - that's about it.

Weaknesses:

Very grainy, even by ISO 400 standards. Not nearly the color saturation I expected from Fuji Professional film. Expensive.
