Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $250.00 from white lightning dire

Summary:
I am an on the go kinda shooter and don''t like alot of cords and mess. I beat the hell out of things and usually make a mess. These have been hard to break! I have lugged them around, knocked them over and for some reason they always work! The warrenty is for real- I blew one up in and old house shoot that the outlet was not working properly and they fixed it for free and quickly. What is most enjoyable is just being able to throw one in an extra bag and be able to set up and shoot quickly.

Strengths:
Light and durable. Ease of use.

Weaknesses:
Lack of modeling light power and the power of the light itself. Recycle time is an issue but if it is use another system.

Similar Products Used:
I use a Profoto system otherwise.

Customer Service:
They are on top of things for you.

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $225.00

Summary:
If you've been hankering to try out studio strobes on a budget, a pair of WL-10000's are a fine way to go. That 5 year warranty is for real, and if you decide the studio route isn't for you, eBayers are always ready to buy these for $200 or so.

By the way, I gave these just a 4 star overall rating only because their power and feature set don't match up to high dollar strobes.

Strengths:
This is a fine strobe for folks exploring studio photography. I've moved on to Paul Buff's X-1600 units, but kept a pair of WL-10000's for hair lights, background fill, and so on. You can do a lot with two WL-10000's, an umbrella, and a couple of stands. Power is fine for ISO 100 Reala portraits, and the 1/3-2/3-full power settings are realistic.

Weaknesses:
The 100 watt modeling light doesn't throw much light, but it also doesn't fry the flash tube.

Similar Products Used:
Novatron 880 -- very nice, but monolights are more flexible and I seem to be tripping over cables less often now.

Customer Service:
Outstanding, absolutely outstanding!
