The Para Soft 220 FB is a parabolic umbrella with a diameter of 220cm, stretched by 24 braces. Unlike the very shiny silver coating of the Para FB, the Para Soft FB has a white reflector material. As any existing type of the Para FB, the Para Soft 220 FB can be used with most of the broncolor lamps: PULSO G, Unilite, Pulso Twin, Pulso 8, Ringflash P and broncolor HMI up to 575W. Compared to the existing types of Para FB, the light is fundamentally different: It is much softer and therefore it shows less textures on a structured surface such as skin or textile. The light becomes friendlier and a little more “flat”. Focusing is obviously less effective than with the shiny silver coating types of Para. Although it has a considerable influence on the characteristic of the light. If the lamp is in defocused position (close to the opening of the deflector), the illumination of the Para Soft 220 FB is mostly homogenous and extremely soft. If on the other hand the lamp is focussed (moved toward the inside of the reflector), the illumination of the umbrella becomes harder and more centred. The light accordingly becomes harder and more accentuated. This is an important advantage in comparison to softboxes whose light can hardly be modified without additional tools. The approved mechanism stretches the umbrella without effort by means of a rotary mechanism. The aluminium rod with continuous fine adjustment, and lamp support serve for focusing the light source, by sliding the lamp head within the optical axis. To stabilize the Para Soft 220 FB also under unfavourable conditions, for example in the open air, eight fastening-eyelets are integrated on the outer side. With these, the umbrella can be suspended from the ceiling or secured on the ground by means of tension ropes. It can be shut like a normal umbrella and folded lengthways like a pocket umbrella for transport and storage.
