Review 1 of 4

Price Paid:  $209.00 from Camera West

Summary:

The Quantum QB1+ is a rechargable battery pack to power portable strobe flashes or cameras.

Strengths:

Well built!
Charges Fast and maintains a fast flash head recharge rate!
Portable
Two power output ports
Longevity of battery life before it needs charging

Weaknesses:

Like Pocket Wizards, you have to buy a cable to make it work with many (if not all) cameras/flashes. The cables (Quantum calls them 'Modules') cost anywhere between $30 - 100.

The cost, but you get what you pay for!

Review 2 of 4

Price Paid:  $199.00 from Porter's Camera Stor

Summary:

Great battery pack! Works well with my previous Canon 540EZ flash and my current Canon 550EX flash. Keeps me charged for a whole wedding, from start to finish without any worries.

Strengths:

Quick charging, very strong and robust for those long shoots. Can't beat it.

Weaknesses:

A little cumbersome with the big battery connector coming out of the battery compartment on my 550EX flash. Wish it had the connection cord like the Turbo does. One wire and plug in connection. But I can live with it. Not a big problem.

Review 3 of 4

Price Paid:  $110.00 from KEH (used)

Summary:

I bought mine used from KEH and have had no problems whatsoever. I also use with a Vivitar 285HV. Fast recycle times with the Vivitar 285HV. I shoot with a medium format camera without a motor drive. With the Vivitar 285HV set to half power (manual mode) I can shoot and by the time I crank the handle to advance film and recock shutter the flash is ready to fire again. Lots of juice in it for shooting weddings.

Strengths:

Lightweight, lots of juice for 6 volt flash systems, shows amount of charge left in battery.

Weaknesses:

none

Customer Service:

not needed
