Review 1 of 6

Price Paid:  $500.00 from on line store

Summary:

I have read the reviews and cant see the hoop and joy over this light source. I power my x2 now an x2d with Lumedyne 400ws and 200ws packs and they are reliable and cheep to replace cells. Before buying the x2 i was using lumedynes ACM Auto Control Module for years and have had great results, without thinking about my exposures. Set it f11 and you will get perfect whites and color balance. Before I went to Lumedyne I was using Vivitar 283 Armato style. They were on and were reliable. The only draw back was 120 g/n and with bare bulb it is more like 90+ g/n. So 5.6 is an option. I decided to purchase an X2 because it looks better then my ACM. I set the ASA to 400 my aperture to f8 loaded some portra and shot in and out doors. Wow I was hoorified at what i got lucky I have a 35mm back for my SQAI. You got to think of every shot you take the X2 wants to light every thing in its path. I want to think of my clients and not every lighting situation. Yes i sent the x2 in its a D series now. So it sits in the box if you are interested ill take $500.00 for it, its like new.

Strengths:

great modeling light. light weight, good looks, easy to use.

Weaknesses:

well you figure it out.

Similar Products Used:

Lumedyne A+, Vivitar A+, Canon 550 EX A+ great if you set your camera correct for it.

Customer Service:

Good, Lumedyne Guys are great, and so are Vivitars. When I complained to Quantum about the flaw this flash has they said I should sell it on ebay. Hahahahah, They said the new features in the new Dx2 will correct the problem.

Review 2 of 6

Price Paid:  $900.00

Summary:

WHAT CAN I SAY. THIS IS A SUPER FLASH WITH EXCELLENT LIGHTING. I USE THE 400WS FOR WEDDINGS WITHOUT OUT A FLAW. YOU REALLY APPRECIATE THIS FLASH WHEN YOU BLOW UP PICTURES 20X30. YOU REALLY NOTICE THE PERFECT EVEN SKIN TONES. NOT CHEAP, BUT I BELEIVE ITS WORTH IT.

Strengths:

THE ABILITY TO HAVE THE POWER WHEN NEEDED WITH DURABILITY AND RELIABLE.

Weaknesses:

REALLY NONE, ITS BIG, BUT ITS 400WATTS WHEN YOU NEED IT SO IT CAN NOT BE SMALL.

Similar Products Used:

VIVITAR 283, METX 40MZ2, METZ 45CL4, HASSY D-40, SINGER GRAFLEX 350 & 250

Customer Service:

GREAT, NO PROBLEM RESPONDING WHEN LEAVING AMESAGE.

Review 3 of 6

Price Paid:  $1179.00 from Adorama

Summary:

The X2 that i bought is the 400 WS system. It is really suitable for locational work since it is relatively light. The flash output is really flattering......but unless you are a professional or Richie Rich, Canon's 550 EX flash i once used which is $700 cheaper is good enough.

Strengths:

Expandable to 800 WS, TTL, many accessories.

Weaknesses:

Expensive, no on flash compensation, small modelling light.

Similar Products Used:

550 EX

Customer Service:

None
