Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $435.00 from http://mpex.com/

Summary:

First of all, thanks to photographyreview.com and all of the fine people who leave reviews. I have NEVER made a purchase without first reading the reviews from this web page. I purchased two style 400BX units, and I cannot say enough about these products. These units are always fast and accurate and always produce consistent color images. They have a 5 stop range (1/1 1/16) and are light and easy to transport.

Strengths:

5 stop range 150 W modeling lamp Cosistent color range Fan cooled Auto dump User replacable bulbs and I could go on forever.....

Weaknesses:

Haven't found any yet! Well worth the money. Best monoblocs on the market.

Customer Service:

Haven't had to use yet!

Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $0.00 from www.profot.ch

Summary:

I have a pair of Style 300s mono's that I use for portraiture work. They are fantastic to work with. Fast and accurate. Really feels like you are using a quality product that you can trust. Will be getting a 600s to replace my key light and will use that 300s for a background light soon. Elinchrom really feels like a system that will expand as your skills and needs increase.

Strengths:

- 6 stop adjustment (very accurate slider), wired remote available if mounted on boom etc for all adjustments. - excellent range of accessories - fast recycle time with beep ready (switchable) - auto dump, fan cooled, thermal protection. - user replaceable flash tube (main reason I got the 300s over the 300 model)

Weaknesses:

- expensive, but these are quality units. - use 7mm mounting for umbrellas, but have a second mount for other makes (not really a big negative - umbrellas are not that expensive).

Customer Service:

not needed.

Review 3 of 3

Price Paid:  $730.00 from bhphotovideo.com

Summary:

This strobe is awesome! It has a consistent color temperature throughout the entire power range making it great for use with chrome or digital. The Extremely short flash duration (1/2050s- Style 600S) will freeze any movement, and the remote control capability is a huge convenience so you dont have to keep raising and lowering lights to adjust them.

Strengths:

Full 6-stop range with variable adjustment, Fan cooled for use in large lightboxes like the Octabank, and user replaceable flash tubes so it doesn''t need to be shipped back to the factory for bulb replacement.

Weaknesses:

Expensive

Similar Products Used:

Elinchrom EL250 and 500, Bowens Prolite 120

Customer Service:

Not needed yet, but Bogen has given great service in the past with other products.
