Strengths: The autofocus on this model appears to be significantly faster than on previous models I have trialled. The Image quality from this lense is superb and crystal clear, particularily with auto-focus enabled. Designed solidly and very robust for outdoor conditionsWeaknesses: The only real weakness would be in its prabticality as it is quite large, however this negative is compensated with the amazing image quality. Perhaps the price too!Bottom Line: Overall this product is quite incredible and far surpasses any of its rivals in so far as image quality and reliability. If you are in the market for these products I would from experience recommend Canon over the rest.

Strengths: Light weight (compared to most of the laternatives in the premium long lens range); superb sharpness; fast autofocus; first-rate build qualityWeaknesses: The length makes it a bit unwieldy at times, but there's no getting around this with any long lens; drop-in filters are a bit expensive and of limited selectionBottom Line: Definitely top-notch quality; it's hard to imagine any lens giving better sharpness (although the new IS version is claimed to be better?!).
