Summary:

This is one must - have lens for serious photogs. It is superb both optically and physically - extremely well made, of metal, and heavy. The slide test images were absolutely razor sharp from edge to edge and corner to corner, as viewed by a high quality 8x loupe and another 16x loupe. Even though it is a manual focus lens, it is very easy to focus. One could also prefocus the lens to a certain position and then simply move slightly closer or farther from a subject, like in a head and shoulders portrait, untill it appears sharp in the camera. With the hood attatched, reversed on the lens, you could also focus by pushing or pulling on the very durable hood, it is easy to do because the lens movement is very smooth, with just the right amount of resistance. So the lack of AF is not missed much. It has a close focus distance of 0.87m, allowing a 1:4 image ratio ( you can fill the frame with something 10cm by 15cm in size ).

Strengths:

See above. A truly finely crafted gem.

Weaknesses:

Price.
