not fast enough

i have been using it for less than 1 month, i shoot with an M8 . i use the 35/1.4 asph as well and used the 50/1.4 asph+ the 75/2.5. i like this tiny lense very much as it is sharp ,flare &distorsion free and is very light ( 180 gr) only, it does not block the viewfinder
the only thing i miss sometimes is speed so whenever needed i switch to the 35/1.4
some people complain about its price-i think it is cheep compared to the benefits and quality of this lovely baby

Lighter and more compact than the previous (E49) version. Very sharp and contrasty even at full aperture. Clip-on shade has a snap-in cap. Ergonomic thumb tab for focusing. Shade has an an offset mount so you can only put on one way (with the cut-away in the proper position for the viewfinder). Clickstops include 1/2 f-stop increments.

Expensive.

This is a superb lens that is well thought-out and produces excellent results.

Very high level of sharpness, resolution and contrast across the whole frame right to the corners and at every aperture. Very compact even with lens hood permanently attached. Accurate depth of field markings. Nice bokeh. Can see the framelines with 0.72 ( just) and 0.58 viewfinder bodies.

Very expensive.

One of leica''s very best lenses. If you do not need a wider aperture, and there are few occasions when anything wider than f2.8 is really necessary, then this lens is perfect. The current version is much better than the previous version.

None. Todays summicron 28 offers the same quality from f2 for the same volume, but for a much higher price. Should you not need f2, do not hesitate for this Elmarit.

I have replaced the release three of the Elmarit 28, by the last release.
The last Elmarit 28 is more compact and sharper wide open than the previous model. It is very handy on the M6 and pleasant to use.
