Review 1 of 5

Price Paid:  $269.00 from adorama

Summary:

Excellent lense. Saw it compared to the 1.8 version shot for shot and it is hands down the best of the two. The first lense I purchased to go with my N80. Very versitile. Took this sweet lense on a cruise and took pictures with no flash in the darkest bowels of the ship. (Ok... the piano bars, restauraunts). It does well with landscape, people, low light situations. It was worth every penny to get this over the 1.8 version. Everyone should own a light vacum. At this price it's a no brainer. Not sure I would spend additional $600 for its 85mm brother, but everyone should enjoy the lightweight combo of this lense on an N80.

Strengths:

Price/Quality for a Light Vacum

Weaknesses:

Short for sports, not wide enough

Review 3 of 5

Price Paid:  $90.00 from Camera Shop

Summary:

I bought this lense because of the fast speed and also to brighten up my viewfinder for focusing.

Strengths:

The lense is very sharp especially around f2.8. I shot 3 rolls of portraits with this lense with flash/fill studio lighting at f16 and my results were fantastic. I am very happy with the lense and I think I will find it hard to find anything better in the 50mm nikkor range!

Weaknesses:

I haven't come acrodd any yet. I'm sure I will tho.

Review 5 of 5

Price Paid:  $300.00 from B&H

Summary:

I bought this lense for low price and speed. It turns out to be my favarit. I used it for a theater shots, inside sport events shots somewhere i couldn't use a Flash. It's very useful and handy with extra speeds.

Strengths:

Extra speeds, light, sharp, and bright. I can use for Macro lense. Good lense for people, and walkaround shots. It's very strong I droped this lense 4 or 5 times I still use it working very well.

Weaknesses:

I want to have a one more F-stop, I'm thinking to buy 50mm /F1.2.
