Strengths:    - lightwight
- same perspective as my personal sensation
- nice bokeh
- nowadays very affordable
- floating elements

Weaknesses:    maybe a bit to soft

Bottom Line:
my 'immerdraufobjektiv' which means my OM1 is never without it - nice bokeh & supercompact - maybe a bit soft but never had a reaon to complain about sharpness
bought first one in '90 as 2/100 was out of budget - what a happy coincidence
traveled two years in East Afrika & more than 20 weeks on bike over whole europe - survived without any complain
together with a OM3 or OM4 an unbeatable combination

sharper, especially wide open - exactly same size & wight, but slower - forget about Contax bodies, the main reason not to use this fantasic lens

Tamron SP 2.5/90
fairly ok, capable of Macro, usable with all my systems

Summicron 2/90
to heavy, very sensitive to straylight, widely availible

Strengths:    Not only portraits, it helps select portions of city- or landscapes. Viewfinder image is bright and focusing becomes easier. I usually run my new lenses throught detailed, thorough and comparative tests, in the field and in controlled situations. The patterns, Siemens stars, the bank note showed that even wide open this lens has great contrast and resolution... though not as much as the 90/2.5.

Weaknesses:    None I can think of... I would like Zuikos to close beyond f16, and to have half-stop diaphramg positions. And -the biggest weakness of all... Olympus OM is becoming history right now... head up high into extinction with T.Rex and family.

Bottom Line:
One step behind the Zuiko 90/2.0 in sharpness and contrast... and that is compliment. The 85/2.0 , though, is half the size and weight, and cheaper, in these days that Olympus OM is becoming the "Ming Dinasty" of 35 mm SLRs.
For portraits I don't know anything better, as the small size is less intimidating than a 135, and 85/1.4 ones are larger, more expensive, etc. Though the Zuiko 100/2.0 is the size of the 90/2.0, I'd like to try it before declaring this 85 the winner.

Strengths:    Flattering for people shots, small, bright, easy to focus

Weaknesses:    Slight pincushion distortion

Bottom Line:
I had my first one (single coated!) stolen many years ago and immediately missed it. When I got the new one, it was multicoated... nice upgrade. This lens has helped me take some of my best photos, and certainly of people. Very crisp, nice out of focus areas (bokeh) and so portable. A favorite! The Zeiss is sharper and flatter (no distortion) but it's just a tad "harder" as well. With the Zuiko, shooting is always easy.

Strengths:    Brilliantly small and sharp. Incredibly easy to focus. Its large apature makes it useful in many many low light situations, My standard people lens & people love the soft focus effect that makes the subject just leap out of the photo.

Weaknesses:    Very attractive to othes - I had my first one stolen!

Bottom Line:
A truely great lens. Indispensible for for people and travel. Olympus got it right the first time with this one. Together with my 50mm & 28mm lens they make up my basic lens set which covers nearly all my needs. Looking through this lens on my OM1 is a relevation to AF camera owners who have never seen such a large image before. I will go to the grave with this system!
