from B and H photo Summary: The Pentax DA 14 2.8 is a rectilnear wide angle lens covering the field of view of a 20 or 21 mm lens in 35mm. The advantage of its 2.8 aperture over slower lenses stems from the viewfinder image; focus and composition are easy even in low light. Color is quite good and resistance to flare is excellent for such a big piece of glass.
The build quality is very good. The distance scale is visible through a small window on the top of the lens. Strengths: Color rendition is excellent as is resistance to flare. The bright 2.8 wide aperature makes composition a joy. The lens is quite close focusing allowing wide angle closeups which are striking. This lens is wonderful for landscapes and interiors. Weaknesses: The lens is somewhat heavy and bulky. Will not work with built in flash.
There is no DOF scale for the various aperatures. This feature seems to have disappeared from all lenses these days.
The infinity focus seems somewhat limited on the lens. It does not focus significantly past infinity. I would worry about temperature changes with such close tolerances. Similar Products Used: Wide angle zooms (18-35)

Customer Service: No demand yet for customer service. My general experience with Pentax has been excellent over the years.
