from sigma4less.com Summary: I really wanted a macro lens because when you do not have the time to go out to scenic places just your backyard can open up a whole new world that is waiting to be explored and represented in beautiful pictures. A world which you don't even know exists until you have a good quality macro lens like the Tamron 90mm. After spending days comparing this with Nikon 105mm and Sigma 105mm, I was convinced that this is the best of the league. I am a die hard Nikon fan and am willing to pay extra hundreds $$$ for that intangible optical quality, but when it comes to this lens the story is a bit different. This lens is at par or even better than the nikkor 105. You save more than $400 with this fine piece of glass and lose nothing but VR and AFS. Not a significant considering the nature of macro work where both these features are not critical. The manual/ auto focus switching is very cool push pull. The bokeh is phenomenal and the color saturation and sharpness is heavenly. You need to use this to know what I mean. Sigma 105 is also a good macro lens but doesn't have such a pleasing bokeh. If you want more working distance you can go for the nikkor but then you pay significantly more and get little in return. Just wanted to let people know that though this is a third party lens, it is just incredible. Well done Tamron! Strengths: Bokeh
Sharpness
Color saturation, contrast
Optics overall
A six year warranty Weaknesses: I don't want to quote build quality as a weakness (but have to mention here for clarification since some people might have written it as a weakness) because you cannot expect all metal construction for the price. It is good quality polycarbonate and will surely last quite long if not forever. Customer Service: Good place to buy stuff. These are nice reliable guys.
