Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $280.00 from Used from PopFlash.c

Summary:

This is great little lens. I needed a super wide lens and I debated over this lens or the 15mm Color Heliar. I ended up going with 21mm and I have been very happy.

Since buying and using often, I haven't ever once thought, "I wish I had a wider lens". I could easily stand in front of a monument and get the whole thing in the frame. I never found myself needing to go across the street to get further back like I did when I only had a lens with a 35mm focal length.

Also, it's also not so wide that you still can't use it for street photography.

Strengths:

Size . The lens is so small, it can easily be carried in a pocket.
Quality for the Cost. For $300, it's hard to beat. It's going to perform well for the vast majority of people and their uses.

Weaknesses:

Speed. F/4 is the largest aperature. Obviously a faster lens would be larger, so there is a tradeoff.
There is some slight distortion along the edges. This is only noticeable in people. They look wider than reality (so don't have your wife pose on the edge of the frame)

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $335.00 from Photo Village

Summary:

Excellent lens. I don't notice distortion at the edges of the frame as I do with retrofocus designs. Very little light fall off in the corners. Sharp to the corners. Great build quality. Stands up pretty well to flare, but could use the optional hood. Definitely fills a gap as an affordable super-wide. Not too wide as to be hard to use either.

Strengths:

Sharp throughout the image; very well built; very small.

Weaknesses:

Slow, but wide, so useable in low light at slower shutter speeds.
