    Strength:

can be used with Full Format Cameras too

    Weakness:

    build quality
    not really sharp

Soligor, Cosina, Voigtlaender etc. 19-35mm f3.5-4.5
they are all the same Lens. This Lens isn´t that bad, but it is not really sharp.
I tried the Voigtlaender and the Soligor with my Canon 1000D as used lenses, bought on eBay for less than 50 Bucks. Compared to the Canon 18-55mmm EF-S
there is only one advantage : You can use the 19-35 with Full Format or older
Film-Cameras too . The build quality and sharbness of the Canon Kitty is much
better. Colors and Bouket of the 19-35mm are not bad and if you are looking for a cheap wide lens as a starter, try to grab one used for less than 50 Bucks on eBay.
Close ups are fine, but don´t expect to much.

    Strength:

Price-quality, overall image quality, metallic mount, AF speed, available in 7 brands!

    Weakness:

Build quality, rotating front element, loose lens hood, focusing run too short for accurate manual focusing (but anybody really needs it?).

This lens was a total surprise. I was looking for a wideangle for my wife photo gear (EOS-3 and 35-350mm L USM), and found this one, branded Voigtländer, in silver finish. It was on Ebay, new, at only 89 Euro and with 3 yrs of warranty! I had huge doubts about the image quality, but I can say that the pictures it delivers, on SLIDE FILMS, have very good colors, contrast and sharpness at many apertures. It won't reach the excellent Canon 17-40mm L USM that I already have, but it's sure better than the Canon 20-35mm USM and as good as the old Tokina 20-35mm II. The focusing is quite fast, due to its short run. Even the flare is reduced. Obviously, the build quality is medium-low (but the mount is metallic), the front part rotates with focusing, causing troubles with polarizers use... but if the use is normal, I guess that this lens can work for years without problems.

    Strength:

DID I say its sharp??...and IT IS MADE IN JAPAN(Phoenix and Vivitar)

    Weakness:

A little plasticky but still strong..

This must be the big all time hit of all affordable wide angle in the hole Photo business! it is simple stunning and i have compared this diamond To both Canon L glass and Nikon ED glass..the difference is quite remarkable,This little 19-35 blows them all away when you take all in consideration; price, weight, design,Fast AF and pure optical joy,the rest of them is not 5 times better BUT cost 5 or 6 times more....i bought one made by Phoenix NEW for usd 129 ..come on gys..(same type as Vivitar) and it is printed both on lens and box; Made In Japan ! Go and get it folks! they are made for canon, nikon and minolta as well. I plan to get them all..i mean..for this price and quality!?? WOW. i think they are made by Tokina in license but im not sure..only thing im sure of that this is an optical hit...sharp sharp..perfect colour..no distortion ,and just good.. Go and get it before they close the production or set the price up..or...?? .. its just creme de la creme..

    Strength:

Price Metal mount (Canon EF fit was, anyway) Relative speed f3.5-4.5 decent feel to zoom ring

    Weakness:

77mm thread makes for expensive filters slightly scratchy AF

Excellent value for money. Well worth buying if you are unsure just how much wide angle photography you will do. I bought this lens 2 years back and love the images I get from it. I am now a firm fan of wide angle photography and have recently upgraded to a Canon 20-35 USM. I'm glad I bought this lens first, though -- it's been great value (and i sold it for the same price I originally paid, so that's great!)

    Strength:

19-35 for $125 Decent speed (3.5-4.5), not for low light photography. Multicoated AF very good(well, I am pleased with it), not very much hunting Very light

    Weakness:

Very light, I got scared that I would break it the first time I picked it up from the box 77mm filter, expensive putting and removing lens hood causes AF ring to move(strange?) Plastic construction although it seems it can take a lot. Will see in the future!

Well what to say about a lens in 19-35 category which costs $125(mint condition)?IT'S GREAT value for the money. My slides come out very good(colors saturated, good sharpness). On the other hand I am not very demanding so... The same lens is manufactured by Cosina and Vivitar. I do not know if there is much difference between them. Bottom line is I am very pleased with it!
