Strengths: Light weight, Great out of camera shots, tough build qualityWeaknesses: noneBottom Line: Carl Zeiss says it all. This is the little brother to the full frame 24-70mm. I get the same results with this on my a77 as I do with the 24-70mm and my a850. It is a lot more light weight and compact than the 24-70mm lens. Not 2.8 but you won't miss that factor a second and won't even think about it.
It produces great out of camera shots that need no post processing, no sharpening, no adding color or contrast. If you know how to compose and expose properly this one is made for gun and run fun.
Sharp all the way across all apertures and focal ranges. Shot it and post it if you need to. It's a great addition to my bag and a wonderful walk around lens. Nice and compact for the power it packs. All this is given I usually carry heavy gear. Some might not consider it light weight. But with what I normally carry it's light to me.
I am suprised that how well it performes given it's small diameter, siz ect. Most lenses that perform as good as this one are much larger.

Strengths: Sharpness, contrast, and lack of CA or artifacts is at the top of it's game. Focus speed is also excellent as it is driven by the camera. Build overall is excellent as wellWeaknesses: The possibility exists that you might get a less than perfect copy right out of the starting gate so be prepared to test and return if necessary. A good copy is worth waiting for.Bottom Line: Given a good copy, this lens essentially has NO rivals. it provides the finest sharpness, contrast and lack of CA of any lenses in this focal range. You certainly do pay a price, and run the risk of getting a less then perfect copy, but as long as you buy from a good source that will let you exchange you're all set. Build is excellent with NO slop in my copy. Near instant to focus on a Sony A55
