Center sharpness, great color, great contrast, not too heavy. Comes with a lens hood. Good weight.

slower louder AF motor (not as big of a deal on something this wide). Can suffer from CA, corners a lil soft, but kinda expected with something like this. Only for crop cameras (not full frame). It may seem a lil cheap to some.

First off, this lens is not 980 dollars, lol. I paid $630 overnight shipping july of 05. As of 5-06, its $550 at Bhphotovideo.com, BIG DIFFERENCE!.

This lens is pretty good. Great color, contrast, and sharpness. It does get a little soft in the corners, not so bad stopped down a little. Also can suffer from a little CA in extreme situations, but its ok. It is pretty good overall, I get awesome results from it.

If you have a crop camera, and are considering a super wide zoom, all i can say it is well worth it, and is pretty usable.
