Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

An outstanding filter for shooting landscapes or outdoor compositions requiring a little more warmth. Can cause some vignetting on some ultra wide angle lenses in the 15mm-20mm range if you're shooting wide open. But this depends on the design of the lens itself since many ultra wides are now made that accept much larger filters (in comparison to the front element diameter) than earlier lenses. This lens is marketed using green landscapes. Compositions with combinations sky and mid-toned rock formations (sandstone in my case) are amazing. Add water to the mix and it's mind blowing. I shot a couple of roles of Provia and Velvia using this filter in the Potholes area of Washington State and the images were jaw-dropping gorgeous. I'm planning on flying down to Lake Meade this fall just to try this filter out down there.

Strengths:

Tremendous value for the money. One filter does the job of two so there's less chance of vignetting on most wide angle lenses. Very pleasing color rendition for a polarizer...landscape rendition is nothing short of stunning. A mere fraction of the cost of B+W's warming polarizer.

Weaknesses:

Ring is a little thick for ultra wide angle lenses. Doesn't impress the pretentious set with a stratospherically absurd price.

Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $65.00 from local camera shop

Summary:

I had to wait over 2 months for this filter(special order),it was well worth the wait.It will put a dent in your pocket but when you're out in the field you won't be thinking about money you spent. It's a keeper!

Strengths:

Allows the use of two filters in one. When using a wide lens this is a great plus. The quality is very good, optically and mechanically. This will work well with scenic photographers. Now one can use a grad filter, circ pol and a warming all at once. The Hoya glass must be HMC.

Weaknesses:

I used many warming filters in the past.I find this one a little
cool for a 81a.for large filter diameter (eg.72 and up )the price can get high.

Review 3 of 3

Price Paid:  $49.00 from The Camerra People

Summary:

this is a great filter! When shooting fall color, it increases the saturation, deepens the blue sky and Warms the foliage. for years many nature photographers would regularly stack both an 81a and a polarizer for enhanced colors. now you only need one.
Excellent landscape filter.

Strengths:

An 81a and a polarizer in one.

Weaknesses:

1.5 - 2.5 loss of light, yikes!
