Summary: I've downrated this filter severely because I feel that a neutral-density filter should be exactly that: NEUTRAL. The Tiffen NDs (I only have two, which I seldom use) are not dead-on neutral, giving a slightly cool color cast. Of course, you can always warm them up a bit with a filter, or use film with a slightly warmer bias. If you go the filter route, I'd suggest starting with something like a 1A/B skylight before proceeding to the 81-series - just my thought. Tiffen generally makes good "user" filters. They're rugged and you can depend on them for consistency. Strengths: Exposure factor is right on (that shouldn't be a "strength," but I've seen a couple off-brand ND filters that were between 1/3 and 1/2 sstop off). Weaknesses: Not really neutral. A neutral density filter should reduce the overall amount of light hitting the film without affecting color frequency. The two Tiffens I've used, while giving accurate exposures, seem somewhat blue to me (and no, it wasn't reciprocity failure). Similar Products Used: None. I generally use a polarizer to accomplish the same thing. Customer Service: Not needed.
