Summary:

This is another accessory lens for the Olympus E series camera line. This lens provides a 28mm focal length wide angle perspective. I am finding that I am using this lens far more than I expected. Normally I would go for zoomed shots in my landscape photography. Now that I have used this lens for some time I really like it. Used in the right scenes, it can really enhance your appreciation of the vistas that you are trying to capture in your photography. The lens is expensive and large. It takes 105mm filters. That's big (and expensive). Approach this lens only if you are committed financially. You'll need to use lens hoods and filters with this lens, just like any other. Remember this is a wide angle lens. Vingetting (a darkening or obstruction of the corners of a frame) is far more likely with a wide angle lens. The wrong filter or lens hood purchase can be costly. I know. In any case, you'll need to get Extra Wide filters for this lens. I specifically purchased a Cokin X-Pro system for this lens. With this, the lens is wonderful. The potential for panoramic photography is incredible, and I am looking into that. This lens is not for everyone. It can however be a source of much creative photography. Very durable. Rode around in the back seat of a rental car in Washington and Montana last year with not a scratch.

Strengths:

Wide angle view. Really cool mushroom appearance. Great quality glass, easy to install on E series lenses with a 62mm thread.

Weaknesses:

Expensive. Filters must be 105mm and Extra Wide to avoid vingetting.
