from KEH Summary: Optically superb: A very sharp lens; Compares favorably to most other Tessars and Plasmats in this focal range, with comparable coverage (IC 252mm) at less than half the weight: Only 170g. It accepts 46mm filters.
The max aperture of f9 may be a turn-off for potential buyers, but is in practice not an issue at all. It allows this lens to be small and light and makes it an ideal travel lens for 4x5, 6x17 and 5x7 format users. Being close-distance corrected, it also is an excellent tabletop/macro photography lens.
If I was to have, say, a 3-lens kit, this would be one of them: The others then being a 110mm Super-Symmar XL and a 300mm Nikkor-M or Fujinon-C.
Strengths: Copal 0 shutter, only 170g. Very sharp, good coverage. Price is ok. Weaknesses: None, really. The f9 aperture in this focal length is fine, even for the studio, unless you're in very low light situations perhaps.
Only stocked by comparatively few dealers; even harder to find secondhand. Similar Products Used: 210mm Symmar -S, 210mm Komura, 158mm Cooke, 190mm and 159mm Wollensaks, 178mm Aero-Ektar, 203mm Ektar, 165mm Angulon and Dagor, 150mm Sironar-S. Customer Service: not needed
