Review 2 of 4

Price Paid:  $2000.00 from ebay

Summary:

great lens, great contrast, sharp and great color. there are some minor complains, but over all very satisfied. FLE is easy to use, probablly works, but I can not really pin point the differences between FLE and non FLE. minor complains: 1. about B70 filter thing. I purchased a B70 UV and 70-60 adapter for other B60 filters. for some reason, the adapter is very hard to take off sometime. 2. When I first turn the focus ring, it was not very smooth. Fortunately, after a few rolls of films, the roughness is not there anymore.

Strengths:

image quality. this is the most important part

Weaknesses:

filter adapter issue above.

Review 3 of 4

Price Paid:  $2800.00

Summary:

This is the perfect wide-angle lens for shooting people because it is incredibly distortion free. The colors and contrast produced with this lens are superb. And it is extremely sharp. There isn't a medium format lens in its class that comes close. This is one of the best wide-angle lenses ever produced for photography.

Strengths:

*Completely distortion-free
*No flare
*Extremely high contrast
*Very sharp

Weaknesses:

None

Review 4 of 4

Model Reviewed:
CFI f/4 50mm

Summary:

This lens is perfect, very sharp. I have the tendency to use it more than my 80mm. I don't think that any other brand will even come close to Zeiss.
Value is right if not for the filters set mentionned above.

Strengths:

Very, very sharp. Can be used as all-round wide without annoying distortions. The Zeiss name says it all...

Weaknesses:

This lens is a 50mm CFi/FLE with 70mm bay. Hasselblad discontinued the previous version of the 50mm using 60mm bay. since this a wide angle I have to buy all the filters for it. It won't share the 60mm bay filters with my 80mm. That make the price of the lens higher than it should.

Similar Products Used:

Hasselblad line of products, Pentax 6x4.5 line of products, Sinar, Contax.

Customer Service:

none.
