Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

DO NOT use dotPhoto or MyPhotoAlbums if you care about your online digital content (your photos). Their system would randomly delete albums, even newly uploaded ones, without any warning.

Talking customer service? Yeah right, you get a "sorry the mailbox of the person you are trying to reach is full, please try again later" and it hangs up. So if you want to call 609-643-0090 x400 (the same as pressing 1 for customer service) and listen to that everytime, have fun.

E-mailing customer service at support@dotphoto.com is pretty much useless. They either reply back with canned messages treating you like an idiot or continue to think of some excuse that it is your fault.

In my case, all of my albums except the last 2nd (not even the last one) uploaded was deleted overnight (well actually in about 10 hours). All of my older albums and the most recent one was deleted. Asking dotPhoto to restore them goes on deaf ears. They just stopped replying to my messages.

So in the end ... if you care about your treasured family photos, do NOT rely on dotPhoto to keep them online for you.

Strengths:

Pre-2008, they were reliable and batches of photos ordered returned back consistent results.

Since 2008, we've been disappointed with them. dotPhoto use to process everything in NJ and we would get them quickly. Sometime in 2008, it appears that they were merged with or acquired by MyPhotoAlbum. After that, the photo prints seems to be coming from some company in Texas. Processing now takes a lot longer. Our Christmas holiday cards took a month to get! And that is only after repeated e-mails asking about them. The canned responses were they are "being processed." For 4 weeks?!?!?!

Overall strengths now (post 2008) ... maybe their prices (even that is not as competitive as before, there are many who are just as good and cheap).

Weaknesses:

Absolutely no concern for customer's photos. They will delete albums without warning. They do not even have means to restore from a backup when albums are trashed by the system. Not even if they are reported within 24 hours.

DO NOT rely on dotPhoto is you wish to retain photo albums online.

dotPhoto's album password security is a joke.

Similar Products Used:

Shutterfly, Snapfish, Ofoto (Kodak), Winkflash, Costco

Customer Service:

Absolutely no phone support. You get a message that the mailbox is full, then it hangs up on you.

E-mail customer support (support@dotPhoto.com) returns canned replies from telling you that you deleted your own photos, had given someone your password and they deleted your photos, or used an easy to guess password and the "hacker" deleted your photos. Another more ridiculous response is that your photos were corrupted and a "clean-up" process removed them. Oh sure, something that has been in your system for over a year (where prints were made from those images) is now mysteriously "cleaned" off the system by the dotPhoto system. Sounds to me like there is a problem that dotPhoto just does not want to care about.

Review 2 of 29

Price Paid:  $0.00 from Dotphoto.com

Summary:

Watch out for, DOTPHOTO.COM. I am extremely frustrated with this company. I have been in the photography business for 8 years now and have used another site online with GREAT service. But being in a growing field with online developing, I thought I would take one of my photo session events and check out Dotphoto.com. Boy did I make a mistake! Did my event in Nov. 2008 and it is mid April 2009 and still have not received my comission. I have called on 4 different occasions receiving only a voicemail, during normal business hours, and have left detail messages and NEVER received any return calls. On top of phone messages I have e-mailed their customer support and NEVER received a respoonse from that either. Then to top it all off, I FINALLY got a ahold of a human being today and he was rude! Telling me they ALWAYS answer their calls. Calling me a liar in so many words. I said interesting and gave him the information of how and how many times I have contacted and still this isn't resolved. He had the nerve to tell me that they sell to 1000's of photographers and never have communication issues. Wow, Never?? Strong word. I told him I just want my money and could he fix this issue. He still had nerve and told me it was10 minutes before they closed and I would have to wait until after the weekend, on Monday and he will look into it Did not take any additional information to contact me. Just hung up!! Please be careful! I work for a internet company where our number one goal is our customer and communication! They can get a hold of someone 18 hours a day, 7 days a week. That is what customer service is all about!

Weaknesses:

Customer service and call backs. Customer relations.

Customer Service:

Not good! Read above on Weakness!

Review 3 of 29

Price Paid:  $300.00 from dotphoto.com

Summary:

I have used dotphot for the last 5 years and have become increasingly frustrated with thier service, when you have a problem you can not get anyone on the phone and they refuse to give out a customerservice number when you email them I am going to find another site to do business with. I have experienced low quality prints in addition to the SUB-STANDARD SERVICE.

Strengths:

None.

Weaknesses:

No customer service by telephone!!! Poor quality photographs!

Customer Service:

Horrible customer service!!

Review 4 of 29

Price Paid:  $0.00 from DotPhoto

Summary:

This was my third time ordering greeting cards from DotPhoto. The first two times the cards arrived on time and they were good quality cards at a low price. I would have been happy to keep ordering from them if they hadn't messed up so badly this time. I never received my order and the order mysteriously disappeared from my order history with no explanation after I inquired about the delay.

Strengths:

Low prices. Fairly easy to upload pictures.

Weaknesses:

Very limited fonts and sizes available for greeting card messages. Customer service area of the website seems to be for show only. It's confusing to use it and then you get no answer.

Similar Products Used:

Snapfish

Customer Service:

My experience with Customer Service was terrible. No way to speak to anyone by telephone. I submitted a question through their website to find out why my order had not been processed after eight business days. I received no answer. Two business days later I submitted another inquiry about my order. I did not receive an answer but the next day the order I inquired about disappeared from my order history like it never existed. I received no information from DotPhoto about why they did that. They obviously do not care if they get my business or not so I will no longer use DotPhoto.

Review 5 of 29

Price Paid:  $26.00

Summary:

This is my first time purchasing photos through dotPhoto. I just wanted a large poster sized phot printed. I won't be a returning customer.

Strengths:

Cheap.

Weaknesses:

Poor customer service and slow delivery. My order confirmation says it should ship in 1-3 business days. I ordered 2 weeks ago and my order history still says it hasn't shipped.

Similar Products Used:

Kodak, Walgreens, Snapfish.

Customer Service:

Terrible. I emailed customer service for my order status 3 days ago, and still received no response. Previous posts seem to indicate they actually spoke to customer service on the phone. They don't offer a phone number to call anymore. Maybe they were getting too many complaints!
