from May 11, 2002 Summary: PBase.com is a great site. The interface is straightforward enough that I have my mom uploading pictures. PBase allows you to upload pictures in a small number of formats individually or Zipped. Then the power of PBase goes to work, files are automatically unzipped and a thumbnail is created as well as different viewing sizes (Small - Medium - Large - Original). The original option allows you to access your original file!! Something that a lot of photo websites do not. The custom style sheets make designing your website very easy. Also, reorganizing photos and galleries is straightforward and extremely simple. (My PBase site is http://www.pbase.com/efatapo ) Strengths: pbase.com is a great and fast site. It's a great place to share your photos and memories as well as get some other viewers who are around to appreciate photography. Also, if you spend the time giving your photos descriptions they are searchable by all PBase members. Weaknesses: The owner (http://www.pbase.com/slug) finally had to start charging. But it's a fair price, a year of 100mb storage and hosting and bandwidth for a mere $23. 300mb for $60 Similar Products Used: I've used Ofoto and a number of other sites that focus on purchasing prints. PBase is only focus is on allowing you to share your photos online in a quick and convinient way. Customer Service: I've never had to deal with customer service. PBase was down for a day a year ago or so? That's the only problem I've ever had.
