Model Reviewed: IQ Zoom/Espio 160

Strength:

well laid out camera with a convenient dial rather than buttons.
Offers one of the longest zooms in a cmpact. good lens if you can focus it without camera shake.
flash moves away from lens axis (less red eye supposedly)

Weakness:

lens way too long for a compact camera. At 160mm you are shooting at approx f12 as your maximum aperture so flash wants to fire in bight conditions as well.
must use in excess of 400 iso fim to avoid constant flash use and avoid camera shake at 160mm
Minimum focus is approx a meter.
Wide angle is only 40mm, not ideal for a typical travel camera. Makes it difficult to shoot landscapes.
Dual flash method of red eye reduction is quite confusing to the subjects.
Camera shake is a real issue with this camera.

in a pissing contest for who had the longest lens, this camera will win hands down, but this comes at a price.
A very capable tool in the hands of a photographer who knows it's limitations and how to overcome them but most compact users would not know or care, they just want good photos..they may find a shorter zoom usefull

Strength:

Small, takes good close ups and wide angle shots.

Weakness:

I think it is very hard to look through the view finder. I am pleased with the results, but I always wonder if I got the shot because it's so hard to see through the view finder.

I probably wouldn't buy it again, but I haven't gotten rid of it yet either. I will keep it for travel, etc.

Customer Service

Haven't used it.

Strength:

has a long zoom. good dial instead of push buttons

Weakness:

Its difficult to understand what the camera is trying to do. it is not at all for a person who just wants to shoot a nice snap. should not be placed in point and shoot cameras at all.

Not at all a good camera. If your hand shakes then its not your piece of cake. Its not worth its price anyway

Customer Service

tried to mail them but the response was after a couple fo days and that to the point i asked. An arbid response

Strength:

good zoom, good sharpness, small, easy dials and lcd, panorama, multi exposure, easy film load, stylish and fairly tough.

Weakness:

red eye does not work small viewfinder

An overall very good point & shoot, flexability of wide to 160mm zoom. I use this as a backup sometimes. Easy to use-I can loan it out, and others figure it out fast. I won 10th place in my first photo contest with it. A lot of features for the price. Red eye is still a problem. Viewfinder is very small, but I usually use a Canon SLR. I have been hard on this camera, it needs a good cleaning, and its still working fine.

Strength:

Good close ups,
Good for outdoor point & shoot

Weakness:

Fragility,
Flash doesn't retract,
film re-winds half way thru roll for no reason

I got this 3 years ago, after 2 years use, it's started playing up.

There are better products out there now,
would not recommend this pentax, I think the 128 would be better.

Strength:

Powerful zoom.

Weakness:

Need to keep a cheat sheet with me to remember how to use the features. I have a hard time with blind spots in the view finder

I like this camera but it's a bit on the complex side. Not good for quick snapshots. I've also used the 140 and there's not a great deal of difference.

I have had two and both had flashes that refused to with draw. One developed a problem with the lens not going back to its original position.

Two many mechanical problems. I'll stay away from this series in the future.

Strength:

Powerful zoom, nice sleek design, great features like bulb mode and landscape focus. Pretty sharp pictures when you keep the camera properly held.
Remote control feature is totally cool

Weakness:

Small viewfinder, too small to tell if image is in focus right away.

Great camera for those who want to start out taking nice pictures. Just get yourself a tripod and you'll have sparklingly sharp, colorful pictures.

Strength:

Powerful zoom, sharp photographs

Weakness:

Sensitive lens. Required repair when the fully extended lens was jostled ($$$).
Automatic rewinder just went nuts. Can't load/remove film.
Camera is relatively heavy.

We had this camera for about four or five years. It's not a bad camera, but disappointing reliability. I don't think we'll buy another Pentax.
