from Acer Direct Model Reviewed: Acer Fotoprisa Summary: It appears that this product is no longer manufactured but it is a great printer that was not advertised as others. I purchased it 3 years ago when it cost a third the price of an equivalent Olympus model which could connect directly to my Olympus camera.
I recently purchased a new home computer with Windows XP and thought I could use the old driver, no luck. I had to download (from the Benq site) the new XP driver and after a few unsuccessful attempts I thought I'd have to trash the printer. I finally read the instructions on how to load the driver and the little printer continues to produce 4 by 6 photographs that most people can't tell aren't professionally processed photos from a traditional camera.
You can create borders by sizing the image appropriately. The colors are vibrant and the quality is still far beyond the ink jets that are classified as photo printers. Of course you are limited to the 4x6 photo size.
I suspect that the paper (and ribbon) sets will be hard to find but the packages are sealed and I've purchased a substabtial quantity to last a while.
At 99 bucks it's a steal. Strengths: Traditional photo quality Weaknesses: Paper and ribbon availability. Similar Products Used: Canon/Lexmark photo printers.
