Review 1 of 15

Price Paid:  $499.00 from PC Connection

Summary:

Very fast but has severe limitations in terms of the quality of print with anything but Canon photo paper. This greatly limits its use as a printer and greatly increases the cost for consumables with its use. Image is very poor with anything but Canon paper and very difficult to color balance.

Strengths:

fast - twice as fast as any other high end inket printer.

Weaknesses:

Works well only with Canon photo papers; head fail after a few months and with only light usage.

Similar Products Used:

Epson 2000 and HP 1200

Customer Service:

Poor - having had two print head failures in 5 months of light use, they insist on doing 2 deep cleaning cycles before replacing unit which results in use of a full set of ink.

Price Paid:  $425.00 from IRAN

Summary:

Oh this printer is so great but its head was die soon. This is unbelivable but in Iran the Canon company did not change printer head with its warranty! I forced to change my own from one of my freind in europe. This kind of service for customers in Iran are very bad our Canon company is decided to got a lot of mony from his customers with its printer hesds. This is intersting but very bad kind of service for user cuntries of canon. If you want to buy a Canon printer it is important to sure about head warranty of your printer in your own contry.

Strengths:

It is fast and It has nice output for hi resoloution Photos.

Weaknesses:

s900 heads died very soon. And takes my 6 month for changing it with warranty. Witout using warranty I was able to chang it with 200$ buy of our Iranian company Canola.

Price Paid:  $280.00 from Online

Model Reviewed:
Canon S900

Summary:

Good and fast but with major flaws.

Strengths:

Great quality printing and very fast.

Weaknesses:

I do a medium amount of printing and the printer is essential to my business. In 6 months I've had 2 print heads fail. The first time Canon were great and sent me a replacement, the second time they got snotty - demanded I send the entire printer back for 5 days with all ink cartridges in place. They are very clearly going to blame not using extortionate branded ink for the problem (hey Canon, ever heard of the word cartel?). This has nothing to do with it - do an internet search and you will find this fault cropping up time and time again with this printer *be warned*. In conclusion, if you don't mind paying through the nose for a printer that often produces astounding prints, but which will go wrong in time whereupon you will have Canon support staff being very rude to you - go right ahead and get one!

Review 4 of 15

Price Paid:  $399.00 from CompUSA

Model Reviewed:
Canon S900

Summary:

Best photo printer I have ever had. The heads never jam up with ink. In contrast to the Epson's that I have had in the past, where I they are not used for a week the heads need to be cleaned, I can walk away from this unit for a month on end and the first print out is remarkable.

Strengths:

High quality and VERY FAST photo prints

Weaknesses:

Ink is a bit expensive & does not work well with all photo papers (at least I have not gotten the settings down pat).

Similar Products Used:

Epson photo printers

Review 5 of 15

Price Paid:  $399.00 from Comp USA

Model Reviewed:
Canon S 900

Summary:

This is the worst investment I have ever made I use it aloy (well that is when it is not i the shop) It goes through a print head every 4 weeks, Canons words were to get the extended warranty so iy is covered for an additional 2 years Boy thats a crock, It is in the Canon repair shop again (the 5th time) now it won't recognize the print head is even installed, I am hoping they will exchange it this time as a lemmon, I would prefer to get rid of it completely, Worked great for a month , if you plan to print more than 1 page per day find another printer as its duty cycle is about 25 sheets per month, I have never had such a poor printer, and the worst customer service I have ever heard of.

Strengths:

poor fuel economy (all the driving back and forth to the repair depot)

Weaknesses:

poorly designed print head that Canon knows about but is trying to cover up

Similar Products Used:

My cheap Epson C80 outperforms this Canon because it still works and it is 3 years old no issues
